Get the beer dip! And watch out for the pot holes. Basil’s Italian Restaurant is yet another surprising delight in Greenville NC and an obvious neighborhood favorite.

Holy Pot Holes Batman!

Over the last 2 years that we have lived in Greenville, we have been surprised by how many great and unique restaurants we find. Basil’s Italian Restaurant is just the most recent. Basil’s Italian restaurant is away from the downtown area of Greenville but still well within the urban sprawl.

Cucina LaMantia and Anita’s Mexican Restaurant are two other favorites of ours in the area. They all are found is an unassuming locations with stellar food and or concepts like Basils. We have driven by this area multiple times but never noticed Basils until this time.

There is no shortage on parking here however, there is a…. pavement issue. The formal parking lot itself has 30 or so spots which fills up. There is a large open dirt lot right next door that is used as overflow but it is not maintained very well. Several massive pot hole nearly claimed our car in the dark so be carful.

If they run out of park between these two areas, you can also use the movie theater parking to the rear of the restaurant. I might recommend this over the dirt lot too.

Chillax With Some Diiip

Basil’s Italian Restaurant has a neighborhood meeting place atmosphere. If you compare it to Nino’s Cucina, Basil’s is very laid back. The bar area is off to one side and larger dining room is right in front of the main door. The best way to describe the vibe is a Italian version of Chili’s.

There were plenty of people who were here to watch various college games and socialize. There was an equal number who were there just for dinner.

Mama Mia!

The food is indeed Italian as the name suggests. We noticed their signature dips section on the menu when we first got there. It seemed interesting that they would fully separate this out from the rest of their appetizers so we assumed it was something special. The beer dip disappeared as quickly as it arrived at our table.

Our drinks were basic. I picked a local lager that I had before and Kaitlyn tried their margarita.

Keeping with the Italian theme, we naturally got some pasta and salads. I Kaitlyn is a sucker for baked ziti and really enjoyed it. She ended up with plenty of leftovers thought. I tried their Sebastian’s Delight which had crab meat and sauteed shrimp. I do not get seafood enough so I polished this off too.

Everyday Neighborhood Delight

Sometimes you don’t need a special reason to go out. Basil’s Italian Restaurant is perfect for that everyday outing or laid back date night. Definitely try the beer dip when you come and thank us later.

Overall

Basil’s Italian Restaurant is a great value and prefect for a laid back dinner or lunch with friends. We had an enjoyable enough time but not a show stopping experience. I recommend grabbing some of their signature dips.
