Head down a back alley and down some windy stair for a great Beermosa. One World Brewing hides in nook of downtown Asheville that has a hide out feel to a great local brewery.

Back Alley Special

One World downtown is located in downtown Asheville. It is uniquely placed in the basement level of a very popular portion of downtown. We were a little confused walking down a back alley and down a set of dark stairs at first. You might be surprised that a full scale brewery fits down there PLUS spacious seating. Some other areas near by include Packs Tavern and the Asheville Art Museum. Be sure to note One World also has a location in West Asheville also with the same great beer.

Parking in this part of downtown can be a little difficult during peak times. You can usually find a place to park using the Passport Parking App. There are a myriad of different parking apps you might need while you are downtown. Be warned, many of these locations do not have any physical station to pay at any more so you will be required to have a smart phone.

Touch of Grunge With Friendly Faces

One World has a very interesting feel. It feels like a hideout that only “in the know” locals come to visit. We actually had our waitress at Vinnie’s tell us it was one of her favorite places. The low overhead ceilings and the exposed brick and woods throughout the bar contribute to this. There’s a variety of games such as darts that we saw quite a few people play. The atmosphere was very relaxing compared to some of the other places we’d gone. The bar tender was very friendly and worked at a relaxed pace.

The most striking part about One World Downtown is its basement location. Being in a basement off of a side alley made me excited to try something new. The owners leaned into the naturally dark location by using exposed brick and raw materials for much of the interior. It is impressive that all brewing was originally started in this same area.

Beermosa’s & More Beer

Like so many breweries in Asheville, the beer were great. They leaned to be on the darker and stronger flavor profiles as many people prefer in warm months. The selections were more limited compared to the macro breweries in Asheville but that is why we came. All the same. We really enjoyed them, including the beermosa. Our waiter at these Italian restaurant recommended this to us on our visit to Asheville. It’s exactly what you think. It is a beer with mixed with champagne. Top Notch!

There isn’t much food really to order here. We were feeling a little snack-ish so we ordered some pretzels only to watch the bartender pour some pretzels into a bowl right in front of us. No complaints. They were delicious but we could have bought that exact bag at Costco for what we paid for that bowl. Cost of convenience I suppose.

If you’re wanting some more substantial food, just upstairs is Fresh Burger. You can order online and they will deliver downstairs to your table. We didn’t take advantage of this since we’d already had dinner, but our waitress at Vinnie’s says she does this regularly

Unique Location, Fun Twists and Totally Local

One World Brewing Down Town does all the little things right. The fun twist of a Beermosa, with spacious lounge and comfortable atmosphere would make this a greet meet up place if we came back more often.

Overall

When you are getting a little overwhelmed by all the crowded bars and breweries in downtown Asheville, come check out One World Brewing. If for no other reason to relax in comfort. As a social introvert, this was a great balance of calm to have close conversations with friends and even dates to round out an evening.
