Bateeni Mediterranean Grill one of very few authentic restaurants in Greenville that does not pay homage to the barbecue gods. The simple and clean approach to dining makes a great atmosphere to showcase a local family’s passion for food and their heritage.

Not An Actual Island

WAIT! You missed it. Nestled into a simple shopping center in Greenville, is the Bateeni Mediterranean Grill. The shopping center is not far from the ECU Hospital but not particularly a memorable location. The area is clean, safe and accessible. Just don’t miss the turn.

As for parking, it is a non-issue. As with most typical shopping center, you can always find a spot somewhere even if it is not right in front of your desired shop. Nonetheless, I have yet to have a parking problem, and can always park right in front. The location is convenient for much of the Greenville/Winterville area. You may want to pair a visit to Bateeni with a relaxing afternoon at Town Common.

Simple And Clean Dining

The restaurant itself has a tasteful Mediterranean vibe but is also a bit bland. The decorations are modest if not subtle in this rather large seating area. We have never had any issues with seating but we typically get our orders to-go. This seems to be the norm for many of their customers in the Post-Covid world since most of restaurant is usually vacant.

The Staff is always friendly and attentive. I cannot say for certain but it appears to be a family that runs this shop. This makes sense since I can not imagine there are many experienced chefs in Greenville with an authentic Mediterranean cooking background.

Bites From Across The Globe

The Food here is truly a pleasure. Eastern NC is full of great whole hog barbeque and seafood. This one haven of authentic Mediterranean food is very welcomed if for no other reason to mix it up.

We have come a few times and were impressed by the size of the small hummus appetizer. If you order this, know two thing. First off, it is not small. Second off, you will not have enough pita to eat it all. We typically will bring it home and snack on it into the next day with either some store bought pita or even tortilla chips. Worth the money.

Kaitlyn has enjoyed the Mediterranean salad on several occasions and would recommend it again. I have tried a variety of kabobs and have settled on the beef kabobs as my go-to. Madilyn has just been in a sour mood every time we have come so I cannot provide an insight into the chicken nugget quality.

All the food was made promptly and they have their estimated order times down to a science. When I came to pick up my order they had it hot and ready right on the dot for me to walk out with it.

Island of Culture

Not many Mediterranean or authentic anything is in this part of the state. Bateeni Mediterranean Grill brings variety and quality to the heart of Eastern NC barbeque country. The spacious accommodations also make it ideal for slowing down with friends any day.

Overall

Bateeni offers a great location for low stress dining with authentic Mediterranean dishes and a simple relaxing environment. This is a great place to try something new from an oddly familiar place.
