Blue Water Grill and Raw Bar is THE Manteo restaurant to schedule your next special occasion at. The top notch professionals working here and the outstanding food alone make this a must visit establishment. The great view and ambiance ensures we will be coming back.
Marina View’s
Blue Water Grill and Raw Bar is located on Pirate Cove in Manteo. This is the only major restaurant in this high end boating community. Open to the general public, you can get the chance to overlook an impressive array of boats.
The parking here was a little tight but manageable. There are parking areas for the Mariana also. Be careful to not accidentally park in designated parking spots for the boats. The restaurant itself is on the second floor of the building. Fully accessible with an elevator and ramps. The second floor views provide excellent backdrops for dinner and drinks.
Ambiance with Class
The entire establishment has a fitting nautical theme. We came on a weekday so seating was not an issue. They seated us with an outstanding view of the marina. These same seats can have the windows opened during the warm months to enjoy the weather.
All the decorations and small touches buy into the theme. I found it fun that on the menu they offer to cook what you catch. Very curious how many people actually take advantage of this but it is a fun marketing tool to have in the menu for little additional cost to the business.
Fancy Feast
Jokes aside, the food impressed us. We came when the dining room was not busy on a weekday. Nonetheless the food came out looking and tasting top notch. We ordered a daily special appetizer called “papachos”. Normally these types of chip dishes are over or underloaded and a little messy. Someone cracked the code though in the kitchen here because we cleaned this plate. Simple pleasures.
Our server forgot the “no-bacon” part of our order initially but realized what she did moments after she set the plate down. She took the dish back without us even saying a word. A fresh order was out in only a minute or two. We all make mistakes but true professional like her lean into fixing them and owning the mistake.
We each ordered a specialty drink they offered call the Manteo Mash. I ordered it with the substitute Mother Earth Gin while Kaitlyn kept the vodka. After a little taste test, we agreed that both were good but the version with gin was better.
I ordered their Fish of the day and started to eat before Kaitlyn reminded me I need to take a picture (thanks love). We both plowed into our main courses. Still a little tired from seeing Jockey’s Ridge and the Wright Brother’s memorial, this was a great way to end the day. We elected to skip dessert since we had some sweats back in our AirBNB.
Overall
The great servers, high end food and general appearance of the the Blue Water Grill and Raw Bar make this a great restaurant to plan your next special meal. Here you get more than you pay for and get a view too. We went to quite a few restaurants on this vacation and found that this was our baseline for a great experience. We will definitely be stopping the next time we are in Manteo. If you are looking for more great local spots, check out their sister restaurant at the Blue Moon Beach Grill
